Block High School boy’s basketball team defeated Haynesville last Friday night, earning their way to round two of the regional playoffs for Class A schools. Block faced off Ringgold on Tuesday night in an away game. Tuesday morning, Head Coach Leodis Norman stated, “Turnovers have been an issue this season but we have been practicing and the team played a great game against Haynesville and brought home the win. Ringgold is an experienced well disciplined team . We have a challenge on our hands, but if our team works hard like we did Friday night, we can win.”

Block High School Class of 1985 and former NBA Basketball Player, Ervin Johnson, Jr. spoke to Harrisonburg High School's 7-12th grades on Wednesday, January 30th.

It was a great day for Gracie United Team Jucao Jonesville (GUTJ) at the CENLA InHouse tournament. Ten competitors from GUTJ attended the tournament at Pineville High School earning first place in overall team.

It’s always a great day to be a Sicily Island High School Tiger, but Friday, February 9th was extra special. The season ended with Senior night for three senior girls with Alumni games. The current Lady Tigers played against a team of Alumni Lady Tigers and won with a score of 48-34.

Kensey Trisler scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Harrisonburg Lady Dawgs past Grace Christian Warriors, 49-24, on Friday. Harrisonburg Lady Dawgs dominated from start to finish, never trailing in the game and leading by as many as 28 points on their way to a victory.

Harrisonburg Varsity Bulldogs past Grace Christian, 74-51, on Friday as Ryan Fuqua scored 32 points. HHS Bulldogs got out to a 30-28 lead at halftime before closing out the victory.

Central HIgh School Lady Panthers went on to victory as they played False River. The final score had the panthers on top with 35 points and False River falling short, scoring 12 points.

We had wonderful participation and turnout for the parish tournament hosted by Harrisonburg High School this year. Many years ago, this tournament was held every year along with a free throw shooting contest at Enterprise.
