Harrisonburg High School hosted a basketball jamboree Tuesday, October 29th where local teams met on the floor for their first action in this basketball season. There were six games played between a total of three schools.
Sicily Island hosted last years state runner up for class 1A, Oak Grove. Oak Grove, not as good as last year but still a talented team showed what made them contenders last year. They beat Sicily Island by the score of 57-8 on Friday night.
The Bears had their most complete game of the season Friday night in a 62-0 win against Northwood.
The Catahoula Parish School Board reports that the number of students in the school district has dropped again this year. The district reports counts as of October 1st and February 1st of each school year for funding purposes.
Another sad sight for fans of Sicily Island as the Tigers dropped their 5th straight game. This past Friday night Delhi got the best of the Tigers and came out with a low score of only 6 points, but Sicily Island got nothing on the board in this one.
Block lost to LaSalle High School this past Thursday night by a rather close score of 32-26. This game was one that all lovers of football could have enjoyed.
The Block Bears played their homecoming game this past Saturday night against Bolton. Despite Joseph Curry’s 3 passing touchdowns, Block would come up short. The final score was 55-28.
The Bears couldn’t get the offense going in Bunkie on Thursday night as they found themselves on the losing side of a 35-2 blowout.
Block High School will celebrate homecoming with a pep ralley this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and a parade Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m.
The bears footballteam will take on Bolton High School on Friday night beginning at 7:00 p.m.
