The Block Bears could not stop Vidalia this past Friday night as they lost to the Vikings in a 52-6 blowout.
There was thought coming into the game that Block had a tough challenge coming in, but it was the Vikings first drive that proved to be more than the thought. Vidalia used two plays and about 20 seconds off the clock before running the ball into the end zone nearly 65 yards downfield. A successful two-point attempt had Vidalia up 8-0 early.
The Bears offense couldn’t structure a drive together and had to punt the football on just about every possession they had.
Toward the end of the first quarter Vidalia scored on a pass although it was more of a run. It was a short pass and Block couldn’t get the ball carrier down. The receiver broke some tackles and made another one miss as he took it for the score. Another successful two-point attempt brought the score to 16-0.
The Vikings put the dagger in the game in the second quarter. With 7:14 left in the half Vidalia got another 8 points. With 5:38 in the half there was another Viking score. Then a pick 6 for Vidalia before halftime.
The halftime score was 37-0 and the Vikings had this game well under control.
Vidalia would grab two more scores for a total 52 points in the game.
There weren’t many things that went the Bears way, but they never gave up. Late in the fourth quarter X’avion Green broke through the Vikings defense for a 26-yard touchdown run and Block avoids the shutout.
The Bears (1-1) next game is a home game this Friday, September 20 at 7pm vs Grant (0-2).
