Block lost to LaSalle High School this past Thursday night by a rather close score of 32-26. This game was one that all lovers of football could have enjoyed.
In the first quarter LaSalle started the scoring just under 4 minutes left in the quarter when Kade Hillestad completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Shelton. LaSalle converted a two-point attempt and took an 8-0 lead over the Bears.
With 2:10 in the quarter the Tigers would see their lead become a tie after a 36-yard touchdown run by Dre’ Curry and a two-point conversion that Chad Green ran in. The score was 8-8 at the end of one quarter.
Second quarter, LaSalle’s Zack Dickey punched the ball in the end zone from 10 yards out and the Tigers would convert another two-point attempt and retake their lead. It was now 16-8.
Once again, the lead was short lived. Just two minutes after the LaSalle touchdown, Block’s Joseph Curry made an 11-yard touchdown pass to Dexture Jefferson. The Bears were unsuccessful on the two-point attempt. LaSalle lead 16-14.
Just before halftime Joseph Curry ran the ball a short 6 yards for the score and the lead. At Halftime Block was leading LaSalle 20-16.
Third quarter, 6:43 to go in the quarter, it was LaSalle’s Zack Dickey who ran the ball in for his second touchdown of the night. This was the lone score of the quarter and the Tigers carried a lead of 24-20 into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter Block regained the lead on a 54-yard touchdown run by X’zavion Green which made the score 26-24 Block in front by a thread.
That thread was cut with 5:13 remaining in the game when Zack Dickey made his way into the end zone on a short run for his third touchdown of the night and the dagger to the Bears. That made the score 32-26 and that’s where it stayed until the clock hit all zeros.
The Bears (1-6, 0-2) will be back home this week to take on Montgomery (4-3, 1-1). That game right now is scheduled for this Friday at 7pm.
