A private memorial funeral service for Mrs. Eva Mae Garrett, 89 of Jonesville, La. will be held at a later date, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Garrett was born on October 10, 1929 in Shawnee, OK.  She passed from this life on June 13, 2019 in Jonesville La.  While she lived many places, she considered the banks of Workinger Bayou home.
She had a love for traveling and being on the water, where she felt calm and at ease.  She spent the majority of her life cooking aboard riverboats up and down the mighty Mississippi.  Her love for traveling was preceded by her love for cooking.  You name it she could cook it and even if you could not name it well, she still could cook it!  She loved to fish was said about her in unison, when asked about what she truly loved to do.  That was followed up with how she made her way around the kitchen never using a measuring cup.  Just a pinch here and dollop there and your taste buds were surely to be in for a treat, especially if it was some of her fried chicken followed up with some blackberry cobbler, made from scratch of course.
She was preceded in death by her parents Heaz and Pearl Hensley.
Surviving Eva is her son Dale Stansel of Las Vegas, Nevada, sister Lucille Renfrow of Monterey, La., two nieces Sherri Cather and Charlotte Book as well as a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews’.
