Leadership Milestone at Catahoula Correctional Center

Gary Allen named Warden at CCC

CCC announces a new chapter as Warden Trevor McDonald prepares to transition to a facility in West Baton Rouge. Driven by a desire to be closer to his family, Sheriff Toney Edwards expressed full support for McDonald’s decision, recognizing the importance of family and thanking him for his transformative leadership.

“Our staff is educated, prepared, and passionate about creating a safer, more rehabilitative environment,” McDonald said. “I’m proud of what we’ve built at CCC, and I know the team will keep pushing forward.”

Although CCC is sad to see Warden McDonald go, incoming Warden Gary Allen is energized by the opportunity to lead. Allen, who currently serves as Assistant Warden, will become the first Black warden to serve Catahoula Parish, bringing 29 years of correctional experience and a heart rooted in security, respect, and community service.

“Security is my foundation, it’s where I started and where my heart is,” Allen said. “Everything we do begins with keeping staff and inmates safe.” If we save one inmate and our staff returns home safely, we’ve had a good day.” .

Sheriff Edwards expressed,   “CCC is more than a correctional center, it’s a place of transformation, accountability, and hope. We’re building a facility that reflects the values of Catahoula Parish and prepares inmates for a better future.”
