Over the past eight months the Catahoula Parish Narcotics Task Force along with the ATF and FBI has been conducting operation “Summer Heat”. The objective of Summer Heat was to buy drugs and guns from high profile dealers across the parish. A high profile dealer is a dealer that supplies the street level dealers with drugs for day to day transactions.
Catahoula Parish Narcotics Task Force was able to embed an agent on the street level for the purpose of this operation. A total of 25 warrants were issued on 20 people. Approximately four pounds of methamphetamine was confiscated during the duration of Summer Heat, with an estimated value of $40,000 dollars.
Sheriff Toney Edwards said that he wanted to go to the top and arrest the people who were bringing the drugs into the parish and putting it on our streets.  Edwards also stated, “This war on drugs is a war that will never stop but the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office will continue fighting it so that we can give our communities and children a chance to live life without the constant fear of drugs and the violence it brings”. More warrants are still to be served
