The Bulldogs senior night was an exciting night, but not so much for Harrisonburg. They hosted the Panthers from Central High School and lost the game 66-58.
This is the first time in a long time that Central has beaten the Bulldogs in a regular season game. All the scores from recorded games can be found on the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) website. According to their records, that date back to 2010, this is the first time that Central has defeated Harrisonburg in regular season in the last decade, possibly longer than that.
A sense of shock settled in over Harrisonburg’s fans while Central’s teams and fans celebrated. “It’s definitely a great feeling,” Panthers guard Evan Scarbrough said, “we’re speechless, a lot of smiles, and a little bit of tears.”
Jackson Adams finished with 20 points on the night, Blake Adams added 16 points. And Sean Wiley added 12 points. A lot of those points coming off Scarbrough’s passes.
Even though it was a huge night for Central it was still the Bulldogs senior night so here is a look at what their seniors done.
Avery Fuqua finished his night with 22 points and 10 rebounds for another double-double.
Dylan Alexander came up short on the double-double opportunity but a strong finish. He had 9 points and 7 rebounds.
Lady Dawgs grab the win on senior night
The Lady Dawgs tallied up a win on their senior recognition night last Friday night. They beat Central’s Lady Panthers 54-26.
Both squads played very well defense in the first quarter. The Lady Panthers had a lead over the Lady Dawgs a couple of times early in the first and early in the second.
Leads were shortly lived, and the Lady Dawgs took control in the second quarter.
The Lady Dawgs had three players that scored double digits and two players who picked up a double-double.
Delaney Crum lead the Lady Dawgs with 15 points. Bailey Fuqua finishes her senior night with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Abbey Hardie finished the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
