Friday, May 3rd, LA Tech Speech Language Pathology graduate students visited Spirit Reins Equine Center, Inc. 501(c)3.
This is the fifth year graduate students have spent a day at Spirit Reins learning about the services the program offers.
The day began with leaders from our community, Harrisonburg’s mayor, Mr. Mike Tubre, our sheriff, Mr. Toney Edwards and members of the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Department, along with local business owners, John and Vicky Costanza, joining the Spirit Reins staff in presenting donations our community gathered and praying for the recovery process for those impacted in Ruston.
Our sheriff and his department delivered the donations to Christian Community Action of Ruston.  Mrs. Anna Borne, Speech Language Pathologist at Spirit Reins and LA Tech graduate, presented a program for the students explaining the principles behind the treatment strategy, Hippotherapy, which is used at Spirit Reins.
The students were taken on a hay ride to the arena area to meet the horses, as well as tour the grounds used in therapy sessions.  The Spirit Reins staff was excited to be a part of the LA Tech students’ graduate experience!
