Christmas is coming and it will be here sooner than you think. Our parade and Christmas celebration for the Town of Jonesville will be held Friday, December 1, 2023. The parade line-up will begin at 5:00 PM at Block High School on the Division Street side and will end at the Walking Trail on Airport Road.
Plans are in the works to transform the Airport Road Walking trail into a delightful candyland. The LSU Extension service is lending a hand by coloring the trail and creating blocks inspired by the Candyland game. This theme will be carried to the gingerbread house, Santa’s station, and stage. There is a group of Elves at Jonesville Town Hall already busy making decorations. Gumball machines, suckers, cotton candy, gumdrops, and cupcakes are starting to take shape but MANY more are needed. We have some highly creative people in our community. Please put your creativity to work for our children this Christmas season and help us bring this idea to life. If you or your organization would like to create waterproof decorations to be used to bring this treat to our town, we encourage you to do so. You can find ideas by searching online for candyland theme decorations for small towns or for Candy land decorations DIY. The possibilities are endless. However, supplies are not. Starting now until November 15th we are asking for donations of the following items: Pool noodles (for suckers) Zip ties Varying sizes of PVC Pipe Red Duct Tape Plastic flowerpots Spray foam insulation Wooden Pallets Basic Candyland colored Acrylic or Spray Paints Paint for Gingerbread Houses and Men Plastic Christmas ornaments White Christmas lights (solar or battery operated preferably) 4’ x 8’ Styrofoam sheets Glue Guns and Glue Sticks We would love to see this theme spread throughout the town. So, we encourage families, businesses, and churches to decorate their properties as well. If you have property adjacent to the highway and are willing to let others decorate it feel free to let us know. We are also inviting classrooms and clubs to get in on the fun. The more the merrier. If you have any questions or ideas about how you can help, please call Chrissy Gardner at Jonesville Town Hall for more information, 318-339-8596.
Wishing you all a sweet Candyland Christmas from the Town of Jonesville!
