Block High School (BHS) track and field team competed in the District 4 1A track and field meet in Delhi last week. Trinity Davis (eighth grade) placed seventh in the girls’ shot put, earning her personal best time of twenty feet, eleven inches.

Trey Iles (225) 765-5115 riles@wlf.la.gov The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) adopted an amended Notice of Intent to hold a Louisiana black bear hunting season in December of 2024 in northeast Louisiana. The action came during the commission’s April meeting Tuesday (April 9) in Baton Rouge.

Block High School Track and Field team members competed at the Franklin Parish Track meet on Friday, April 5, 2024. Overall the boys and girls came in 5th place in the meet.

Block High School’s track team competed in the Wossman Invitational tack Meet where three athletes placed in the top ten. Korin Collins came in second in the men’s four hundred meter dash.

Two fishing teams from Harrisonburg High School were able to advance and compete at the state level of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) bass tournament. The championship angler tournament was held at Toledo Bend, in Zwolle, Louisiana.

Catahoula Parish Shooting Sports Club Members competed in the Regional Shotgun (Modified Trap) Competition. The shoot was held at the Long-Range Alley Gun Club in Grand Cane, LA on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Although it was a heartbreaking loss, the Block High School Bears basketball team came home as winners in the eyes of Jonesville and BHS. Hard work throughout the season took the team to the second round of regional playoffs.

It has been a very trying time for the athletic program at Sicily Island High School. Without former head Coach, Curtis Shavers, many players lacked the will to finish a sport they started.

Block High School boy’s basketball team defeated Haynesville last Friday night, earning their way to round two of the regional playoffs for Class A schools. Block faced off Ringgold on Tuesday night in an away game. Tuesday morning, Head Coach Leodis Norman stated, “Turnovers have been an issue this season but we have been practicing and the team played a great game against Haynesville and brought home the win. Ringgold is an experienced well disciplined team . We have a challenge on our hands, but if our team works hard like we did Friday night, we can win.”
