On Saturday, October 28th several individuals participated in Sicily Islands First Annual Pink Out 5k and Chili Cook Off that was held in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Businesses and Residents painted the town pink in hopes to bring about awareness to the community.
Rev. Eric Price kicked off the event with prayer. Many vendors attended including Katina Prices home cooking, lemonade stand, creative t-shirts and tumbler designs. Catahoula Parish Hospital District Two (CPHD2) employees were also present representing Ferriday Family Health by giving away snacks and water.
CPHD2 was honored to be apart of this special day. Heather Perry did a fantastic job at organizing the event with a goal to raise money to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Town Hall and Police Department worked together as a team with efforts to make sure everyone was safe and provided a place to host the event. Mrs. Perry would like to thank the participants, businesses and each individual that helped make this a very special day.
