The murder of Tia Renee Wiley Adams has left Catahoula Parish saddened and shocked. During the initial investigation Catahoula Parish Sheriff Office (CPSO) had enough evidence to make an arrest of George “Booms” Thomas, Jr. on charges of second degree murder. Wiley-Adams body was found in a trash container behind Thomas’ house, 1215 Stella Street, on October 17, 2023.
As the investigation continued CPSO and Jonesville Police Department (JPD) soon discovered that 39 year old Rachel Hathcock’s participation in the murder was more than they knew in the initial investigation. Based on information secured from interviewing witnesses and securing cell phones, enough evidence was obtained to issue a warrant to arrest Hathcock and charge her as a principle in the murder of Wiley-Adams.
Edwards stated, “Our investigation is not complete. Anybody that was a witness or has information pertaining to the murder contact our office. We certainly are not going to leave any stone unturned.” Detective Bubba Roy or Detective Ben Adams can be reached at CPSO by calling 318-744-5411.
With more violent crimes being committed in Jonesville, Edwards is sending out a warning to criminals and reassurance to residents that CPSO is going to do their diligence to put a stop to criminal activity in Jonesville. Edwards added, “It has been to much crime and we are going to reinforce helping Jonesvile Police Department put a stop to crime.” JPD will not have to battle this alone, with the help of CPSO and other area agencies working together things will be beefed up in Jonesville.
Judge Kathy Johnson set bond on Thomas at $520,000.00 for charges of aggravated battery and second degree murder. Hathcock was booked in jail on October 25, 2023 and Judge Johnson set her bond at $500,000.00 on October 30, 2023. At press time Thomas and Hathcock remained in jail.
