BHS placed on soft lockdown this morning
This morning, the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a potential threat at the Block High School campus. In coordination with the Jonesville Police Department, law enforcement promptly responded and conducted a thorough search of the entire school grounds.
Out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed on a Soft Lockdown at approximately 8:30 AM. The lockdown was lifted at 10:45 AM following the completion of the search. No credible threat was identified, and no weapons or threats involving firearms were present on campus.
The investigation revealed that the concern stemmed from a message written on a bathroom stall. At no time during the incident was anyone detained or arrested. All students, staff, and faculty remained safe throughout the event, and no injuries occurred.
Sheriff Toney Edwards emphasized, “Our children’s safety is our highest priority. We treat all potential threats with seriousness and conduct thorough investigations to ensure the well-being of our school communities.”
The Sheriff also extended his gratitude to Catahoula Parish School Board Superintendent Johnnie Adams for his hands-on involvement, and to Principal Amanda Parker and CAS Principal Vanessa Branch for their cooperation and support during the investigation.
The Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive safety measures and will continue to monitor and respond to any concerns affecting our schools.
