Funeral services for Myria Opal 'Patsy' Carlton, 89 of Jonesville, LA were held at First Pentecostal Church Jonesville at 10AM on Saturday, January 6, 2023, with Bro. Bruce Lofton, Bro. Jack Knapp and Bro. Chad Franklin officiating. Interment followed at Carlton Family Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.
Patsy was born on Friday, June 08, 1934, in Book, LA and passed away Tuesday, January 02, 2024, in Jonesville, LA. She was the heart and soul of her family, a devoted homemaker whose warmth and love touched the lives of all who knew her. Born in 1934, Patsy dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her family. Her kitchen was the heart of the house, where the savory aroma of her famous red gravy and homemade biscuits filled the air. Her culinary talents extended to a delectable strawberry shortcake and countless other dishes, each made with a sprinkle of her special love.
Patsy's legacy goes beyond her culinary skills; she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support created a strong family. She cherished family gatherings, bringing everyone together with her infectious laughter and warm embrace. Known for her love of fun, Patsy had a special bond with her 'Golden Girls', lifelong friends who shared countless adventures and created lasting memories. Whether it was a game night, a road trip, or just enjoying a cup of tea, Patsy’s joyful presence made every moment memorable.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and the joy that radiated from her heart. Patsy will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in the cherished memories they hold dear. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared throughout her remarkable life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon William Carlton; parents, Milton and Dora Paul; sisters, Lois Adams and Elvena Book; brother, Ethelbert Paul; two of her favorite running mates, and fellow Golden Girls, Elsie Gardner and Vera Sanford. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Carlton of Jonesville, LA, Billy Carlton (Renee) of Jonesville, LA, and Gail Boyd (Jim) of Monterey, LA; brother, Pervon Paul of Monterey, LA; sister, Peewee Winborne of Sandy Lake, LA; eight grandchildren, Christian West, Sa'Miya West, Maliyah West, Jimmy Boyd, Daniel Carlton, Sarah Carlton, Wesley Smith, Rachel Smith; thirteen great grandchildren, Avery Carlton, Brantley Carlton, Hayden Cosper, Caleb Cosper, Henry Cosper, Trey Boyd, Conner Boyd, Xander Smalling, River Cox, Brayden Cox, Kain Smith, Candie Smith, Aidan Smith. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Kay Book and Patty Chavez for all they did for Patsy.
Those honoring Patsy as pallbearers were Daniel Carlton, Wesley Smith, Conner Boyd, Trey Boyd, Wesley McEntyre, and Shelby Carlton.
Honorary Pallbearers were Jimmy Boyd, Glen McEntyre, Tuffy Book, Richard Netherland, and Lee Charpentier.
