David Colvin Manning passed away at age of 59 on Tuesday, February 12, 2024, at Oak Haven Community Care Center in Center Point LA surrounded by his loved ones. He had declining health issues for the last few years and succumbed to those issues.
David made his career as a lineman for 30 years; he worked with Cleco for years and then worked for T&D Solutions Utility Service company as a foreman for Distribution and he retired in 2016.
He was a crew leader that was loved and respected by all of those that worked for and with him. He was known as a hard worker with fairness and the safety of his men as his first consideration. He was a Brother’s Keeper.
He was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt and fish. As a young man he advanced to Black Belt 3rd degree in Jujitsu. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to help when he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents W.E. “Sonny” and Lois Mc-Clure Manning, brother, Billy Wayne Manning, daughter, Jade Elizabeth Gagne’.
He is survived by his former wife and companion of 26 years, Beth Blood Manning, of Lone Pine; mother of his children, Christie Book Bearden, of St. Francisville, LA; sons, William David Manning of Baton Rouge, LA, Daniel Allen Manning of San Antonio Tx; daughter, Lauren Audrey Manning of St. Francisville, LA; granddaughters Lailah Jade Hastings, Ella Elizabeth Fontenot; grandson, Benjamin Michael Johnson, all of LA; brother, Willie E. “Buddy” Manning Jr (Connie).; sister, Theresa “Tee” Manning Davis, of Jonesville, LA.
Pallbearers were his sons, nephew and close friends.
Graveside service was held Tuesda,y February 2, 2024, at Galvan Creek McClure Cemetery in White Hall, LA at 1:00 PM.
