Funeral services for Douglas Harold Rainey, 83 of Jonesville, LA were held at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church at 10AM on Saturday, July 13, 2024 with Bro. Joel Ford officiating. Interment followed at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home - Jonesville. The family received friends at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church from 8AM until the time of the service at 10AM.

Douglas Harold Rainey was born on Wednesday, December 11, 1940 in Jonesville, LA and passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Jonesville, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Jonesville, a member of Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church. Douglas left behind a legacy of dedication and love. A registered nurse for over 40 years, he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to caring for others. Douglas' passion for helping extended beyond his profession as he devoted his later years to tending his cattle and lending his care to others' herds whenever needed. Work was his hobby, a true reflection of his tireless spirit. Douglas was a loving husband to Betty for 57 wonderful years, cherishing their bond and the family they built together. His love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and his selflessness and kindness touched everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by parents, Luther and Louise Rainey; sister, Juanita Rainey; brother, Joe Purvis; sister, Doris McClure; brother, Jerry Rainey; and great-granddaughter, Reagan Lynn Rainey.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 57 wonderful years, Betty Brown Rainey of Jonesville, LA; daughter, Karen Rainey Wright (Greg) of Pineville, LA; son, Mike Rainey (Hester) of Pineville, LA; son, Kevin Rainey (Chasitie) of Jonesville, LA; nine grandchildren, Kristi Brown (Robert), Brittany Walper (Rob), Brandee Wright, Whitney Tyner (Troy), Megan Rainey, Chris Rainey, Katie Montpelier (Justin), Matthew Rainey, and Caleb Rainey; five great-grandchildren, Bailey Brown, Caleb Walper, Laylah Walper, Weston Montpelier, and Isabella Montpelier; sister, Iris Rainey Rosier of Alexandria, LA, brother, Barry Rainey of Aimwell, LA, and sister Judy Mclain of Jonesville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Those honoring him as pallbearers were Kevin Rainey, Mike Rainey, Chris Rainey, Matthew Rainey, Caleb Rainey, and Russell Delaney.
