John Stanley Farmer, Sr.

Funeral services for John Stanley Farmer, Sr., 93 of Jonesville, LA were held at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Jonesville, LA on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 10AM with Bro. Larry Whittington officiating. The family received friends on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church from 5PM until 8PM. Interment followed at Jena Cemetery in Jena, LA, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

John was born on Sunday, August 2, 1931 in AR and passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 peacefully at his house surrounded by loved ones. He left behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship. John worked for the State Highway Department and was also a dedicated realtor by trade. He was wellknown and highly respected throughout Catahoula Parish and the surrounding areas. John’s true passion was woodworking; his hands crafted countless cherished items for his family, including dollhouses, toy trucks, toy guns, clocks, and anything else imaginable. His remarkable talent for building brought joy to many, and his creations will be treasured for generations. Above all, John was a proud family man who loved his family more than anything. His warmth, kindness, and love will be missed by all who knew him. John’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

He is reunited with his wife of 62 years, Betty Poole Farmer; parents, Stanley “Red” John Farmer and Ella Nancy Mooney Farmer; sons, John “Johnny” Stanley Farmer, Jr. and James “Jimmy” Karl Farmer; and granddaughter, Melissa Farmer.

Those left behind to cherish John’s memories are his daughters-in-law, Becky Farmer of Farmington, AR and George Ann Farmer of Sicily Island, LA; grandchildren, Lindy Wiley & her husband Rodney of Olla, LA, Angie Farmer of Sicily Island, LA, Stephanie Farmer of Pineville, LA, Stacie McDaniel and her husband Wes of AR, Jonathan Farmer and his wife Raven of Deville, LA, and Marcie Little and her husband Bill of Sicily Island, LA; great-grandchildren, Kelsei Price and her husband Taylor, Houston Wiley and his wife Alissa, Caleb Wiley, Nathan Farmer, Taylor Payne and her husband Eric, Tyler Ensminger and his wife Kenzie, Madison Farmer, Mason Farmer and his wife Summer, Alyssa Mertens and her husband Shuyu, Chris Farmer, Sebastian Dougherty and his wife Audrey, Noah McDaniel, Gabe McDaniel, Isaiah McDaniel, Alanis Perkins and her husband David, Elijah Farmer, Samuel Farmer, Hannah Farmer, Azleigh Farmer, Karson Hill, Edyson Hill, Dawson Hill, Bailey Edwards, William Little III, Brendan “Little Jimmy” Little; great-great-grandchildren, Madelynn Long, Addei-Claire Wiley, Evellyn Wiley, Blaire Price, Asher Price, Mia Wiley, Ezra Wiley, Brentley Wiley, Kason Farmer, Jackson Payne, Brooklyn Payne, Olivia Parker, River Tang, Iviee Farmer, Maliki Dougherty, Sage Dougherty, Leland Perkins, and three more on the way; nieces, Jean Comeaux and her husband Steve, Sherry Floyd and her husband Darrell; special friend, Brandy McClure and a host of cousins.

Those honoring John as pallbearers will be his great-grandsons: Houston Wiley, Caleb Wiley, Nathan Farmer, Mason Farmer, Chris Farmer, Sebastian Dougherty, Elijah Farmer, and Samuel Farmer.
