Sandra Lee Weaver Freeman Phillips

Funeral services for Sandra Lee Weaver Freeman Phillips, age 81, were held at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, LA. The service was officiated by Casey Young on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2pm. The family received friends from 1pm until 2pm followed by a private interment.

Sandra Weaver Phillips was born on Thursday, April 8, 1943, to Noble James Weaver, Jr. and La-Vergne (Mernie) Weaver Woolson. Sandra passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA.

Sandra was first married to Lonnie Freeman of Natchez, MS. Together they had 2 children, Chris Charles Freeman, who is now married to Sydney Prescott Freeman, and Leah Freeman Whitfield, who is now married to Dana Whitfield. They also helped raised Lorie Smith Skaggs and Kenely Smith Bailey.

One of Sandra’s prized accomplishments was being crowned Soybean Queen in 1960 at the age of 17. The other blessings in her life were her grandchildren, Amber Whitfield, Daniel Whitfield, Stephen Whitfield, Hunter Freeman, and Garrett Freeman. Her time was also well spent with Thomas Wiley, Phillip Bailey, Jake Adair, Amy Adair, Brad Proctor, Alaina Proctor, and Daniel Proctor. Sandra was also a great grandmother to Leon Stetson Whitfield.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Noble Weaver, Jr and LaVergne Weaver Woolson. Also, by her two sisters Vickie Weaver Smith and Lisa Weaver Adams. She also lost her loving husband Coach Charles (Charlie) Strayhan Phillips, Sr.
