Fran Guy, officiating. Interment followed at Highland Park Cemetery near Sicily Island, under the direction of Young’s Community Memorial. Visitation was from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the funeral home.
Betty was born on December 4, 1941, in Delaware, AR, and passed from this life on May 27, 2025, in Jackson, MS, at the age of 83. She was the cornerstone of her family, known by those closest to her as “Mama,” “Nanny,” and “Granny.” She took great pride in her home, her garden, her hummingbirds, and her family. Much like the plants in her garden, she sowed seeds of goodness into those she loved and nourished them over the years, and it was among her greatest achievements to see the fruits of her labor reaped.
Betty is remembered by family and friends as being adored by everyone, constantly making friends wherever she went. She was an example of hard work, determination, and resilience to all who were close to her. Her family will always reminisce on memories of her famous cocoa gravy and Christmas morning breakfasts. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Pearl Parker; her first husband, Benny Lee Hilliard; her second husband, Kenneth Miller; her grandson, Tommy Robinson; great-granddaughter, Destiny Brown; and eleven siblings.
Survivors include her children, Dianne Perry, Connie Rutledge and husband, Wayne, Judy McLeland and husband, Kenneth, David Hilliard and wife, Vanessa; sister, Wilma Heflin and husband, Larry; Kenneth’s children, whom she loved as her own; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Pallbearers were Beau Robinson, James Michael Hilliard, Shawn Perry, Steve McLeland, Matthew Hilliard, and Hunter Phillips.
