Alma M. Womack is a Louisiana native, graduate of LSU and a career wife, mother, grandmother and farm hand. She lives on Smithland Plantation near Jonesville, LA, with 18 chickens and 8-14 dogs. She was the devoted maitresse des maison (mistress of the house), keeper of the lawn, the lane, and the pecan orchard that defined the beauty and grace of Smithland. She was fiercely patriotic, an unreconstructed Southerner, and a contributor to the Jena Times, Catahoula News Booster, Bluffs and Bayous, American Free News, Red State and The American Thinker. She loved baseball when she was a girl, and has an impressive baseball card collection from the 50s and 60s to show it. Miss Alma was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Her dear friends of the Block High School class of 1966 were so special to her. She talked with her former classmates quite often, and hosted a c/o '66 reunion party at her house every October for the last two decades.

Born with an innate love for the land and the traditions of her family, Mrs. Womack nurtured her home with unparalleled dedication, making it a place of warmth, hospitality, and lasting memories. For decades, she was the heart and soul of Smithland, tending to every detail with meticulous care. Mrs Alma ran the house with a steady hand, while her beloved husband, Buster, worked the fields from sunup to sundown. Buster wasn’t one to waste words. Miss Alma was a conservative Southern woman who was not afraid to speak her mind. At all. On anything!

There were few things that she loved more than working in her yard. She could mow and plant flowers and her precious caladiums every day, if they only grew fast enough. She would sit in her swing and look at what had been done and what needed to be done with her faithful pack of dogs in the evenings. She enjoyed her yard immensely.

A loving mother to three daughters and grandmother to four, Alma's greatest joy was found in her family. She embraced the role of mother and grandmother with boundless love, wisdom, and a gentle strength that became the foundation upon which her family grew.

Mrs. Womack's legacy will live on through her daughters and grandchildren, who carry forward the values she instilled: kindness, grace, and an unshakeable love for the land and those they hold dear. Her memory will continue to be honored by all who knew her.

Alma is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Cleveland “Buster” Womack, parents Juan and Marjorie McClure and she is survived by her three daughters, Holly Womack Primeaux and husband Coty, of Hattiesburg, Jorie and Aaron Wade of Jonesville, and Claire Womack of Jonesville, La. four grandchildren, Woodrow Womack Wade, Jon Grover “JG” Womack, Alma Elizabeth “Liza” Purvis, and Andrew John Richardson “Drew” Primeaux.

She had countless friends and loved ones who will forever cherish her spirit, warmth, and the home she lovingly created at Smithland Plantation Jim and Joan Lossin, Block High School class of 1966, Michael Duncan, Clarence Duncan, Bobby Field, Donna Albritton and Sue Avery.
