Memorial services for Deanna Mae Shivley, 86, of Jonesville, LA, will be held at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Jonesville, LA on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM, with a visitation from 11:00 to service time at the church.
Deanna Mae Bodin Shivley was born on Sunday, June 15, 1938 in Vacherie, LA and passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Jena, LA, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and knowledge. A dedicated educator, she spent over 30 years teaching, beginning in Hahnville, LA, before settling into her role as an English teacher in Catahoula Parish.
A true book lover, Deanna read anything she could get her hands on. She found joy in simple pleasures—walking, tending to her plants, and cheering on her beloved Saints and LSU Tigers. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and rarely missed a chance to support them at their sporting events.
She was a devout Christian and was a faithful member of Saint Gerard’s Catholic Church in Jonesville, LA. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Elia Bodin and brother, Reuben Bodin, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Cary and Deidra Shively of Monterey, LA; and thier children, Matthew, Casey, and Katharine; Devin 'Beau' and Meagan Shively and their children, Ella and Cooper; son, Joe and Rachel Shively of Quitman, LA; his children, Zachary and Lauren Shively and their children, Andrew and Emma; Betsy and Sidney Aulds, and Owen Shively; daughter, Alisa and John Coldiron of Jonesville, LA; her children, Tanner and Chelsi Coldiron and their son John William; Trent Coldiron and his children, Carly and Wyatt; Tucker and Whitnie Coldiron and their children, Aiden and Ashton; sisters Janice and Paul Rubero of Coeur D' Alene, ID, Elaine Bond of New Orleans, LA; sister-in-law Phyllis Bodin and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
