Donnie Ralph Laing, Sr.

Donnie Ralph Laing, Sr., born July 5, 1950, in Wisner, LA, passed away peacefully at his home in Jena, LA, on Friday, May 02, 2025. He was 74 years old.

Donnie proudly served his community for many years, retiring from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) after 30 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement from DOTD, he continued to serve the people of Catahoula Parish for an additional 10 years with the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office before retiring again.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Donnie loved spending time in the great outdoors. He enjoyed going to his hunting camp, cooking meals, and spending quality time with friends and family. His love for nature and outdoor activities was only matched by his love for the people in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Laing and Irene Pittman Laing; brothers, Arthur Ray Laing and Michael Laing; and sister-inlaw, Terri Laing.

Donnie leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife and hunting partner of 20 years, Glenda Brewer Laing. He is also survived by his children; Michelle Laing Carroll (Sam), Amber Laing Hazelwood (Chris), Donnie Laing Jr., Charlie Laing (Brandi), and James 'Tony' Scott (Samantha), as well as his stepsons, Pastor Kevin Greene (Elizabeth), and Kenneth Greene. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Laing.

Donnie was blessed with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind special friends, including Norma Elliot, Jamie Laing, Johnny Lagneaux, Blaine Williams, and Michael Mc-Donald (wife-Dawn).

Donnie will be remembered for his loving heart, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to his family and friends. His legacy of love, laughter, and fond memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 10AM July 5, 2025 at Community Pentecostal Church, Rhinehart, LA, with Rev. Kevin Greene officiating.
