Janette Haygood Hackney

Funeral services for Janette Haygood Hackney, 93, of Harrisonburg, LA were held at Meyers Bend Pentecostal Church on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10AM with Pastor Terry Glaspell and Rev. Robby Walton officiating. Interment followed at Harrisonburg Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Janette was born on Friday, September 5, 1930, in Harrisonburg, LA and passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Pineville, LA surrounded by loved ones. She was a very devoted member of Meyers Bend Pentecostal Church, and she loved her Lord. Janette worked for the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office as a secretary in the clerk of court's office and a dispatcher. If Janette wasn't at the Sheriff's Office, you could find her farming alongside her late husband.

In 2021, she was the Grand Marshall for the Harrisonburg Christmas Parade. She was so full of life and very active up until a year ago and couldn't.

She spent her time outdoors, hunting, walking, skiing, swimming, just anything she could. Up until Janette's late 80's you could find her in the wood’s deer and squirrel hunting. Her biggest pleasure was being the matriarch and taking care of her family.

Janette loved spending time with her family and cooking for them. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, her life revolved around them. Janette will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

She is reunited with her husband, W.D. Hackney, Jr.; parents, Evon Haygood and Addie Nugent Haygood; sisters, Peggy Meyers and her husband Huey and Bobbie Meyers; and aunts, Esther Boothe, and Inez Haygood.

Those left behind to cherish Janette's memories are her daughter, Karon Hackney Hyde and her husband Brian of Pineville, LA; grandson, Darron Randall of Jonesville, LA; granddaughters, Magan Walton and her husband Robby of Harrisonburg, LA and Sierra Withrow and her husband Dontrae of Louisville, KY; grandson, Ross Hyde of Pineville, LA; son, Kevin Duke Hackney and his wife Annette of Harrisonburg, LA; grandson, Duke Hackney and his wife Keshia of Sicily Island, LA; granddaughters, Tiffany Hackney of Jena, LA and Catherine Hackney of Jena, LA; grandson, Randy Hackney of Jena, LA; great-grandchildren, Micah, Drew, Keegan, Addison, Jasper, Sadie, Ki'Leighla, Ireland, and Addie; brotherin- law, Zach Meyers; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
