Interment followed at New Era Baptist Church, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family received friends at the church from 11AM until service time at 12noon.
Mark was born on Monday, July 9, 1973 in Natchez, MS and passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025 in Ferriday, LA. He was a man of unwavering faith, a dedicated member of New Era Baptist Church who truly believed in the Lord. A true jack-of-all-trades, Mark had a remarkable talent for fixing anything—whether it was carpentry, welding, or mechanics, there was nothing he couldn't handle. His work ethic extended into the food industry, where Mark and his wife were the proud owners of Black River Grill in Monterey and Big John’s in Jonesville.
More than his skills and accomplishments, he was an amazing father, husband, son, uncle, and friend. Mark's heart belonged to his family, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his babies. He was his mother's rock and she was his; they shared an amazing bond. He had a deep love for the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, boating, or simply hanging out at the shed, enjoying good company and laughter.
Known for his sense of humor, Mark was a jokester who could bring a smile to anyone’s face. He never sat still, always staying busy, working hard, and making the most of every moment. Mark was a great man—one whose kindness, laughter, and love for his family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
He is reunited with his father, Barry Wayne Carney; step-father, James 'Bud' C. Huff; sister, Susan Stewart; paternal grandparents, Mary Sue Miller and RM Carney; maternal grandparents, Jack Johns and Jessie Mae Johns; and cousin, Michael Johns; aunts, Patsy Bailey and Maebell Stephens.
