Funeral services for Nap Book Sr., 88 of Jonesville, LA were held at Mayna Church of God (26246 LA-124, Jonesville, LA) on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jason Wiley, Casey Young and Mrs. Sarah Wiley Caviness officiating. Interment followed at Palo Alto Cemetery in Mayna, LA, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Mayna Church of God or a charity of their choice.
The family received friends at Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville, LA, 2313 4th Street, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, August 1, 2025 and from 9AM until service time Saturday at Mayna Church of God.
Mr. Nap was born on Tuesday, September 15, 1936 in Larto, LA, and passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025 in Jonesville, LA. He was a faithful member of Mayna Church of God and a devoted family man, leaving a legacy of love, service, and dedication. Throughout his life, he exemplified compassion and fortitude, lending a helping hand to those in need. His commitment to others was unwavering, and his work ethic, built on kindness and strength, was admired by all.
For many years, Mr. Nap was an integral part of the staff at Young’s Funeral Home, a role he held close to his heart, as it allowed him to give back to the community he loved. Beyond his work, he had a passion for traveling to Arkansas and getting some of the largest and most delicious tomatoes that he would deliver personally to anyone that placed an order. Mr. Nap’s spirit of generosity and his loving heart will live on in the memories of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.C. and Lovina Book; five brothers, Silas Book, Houston Book , Leroy Book, Cary Book and H.C. Book, Jr.
Mr. Nap is survived by his wife of 67 years, Martha White Book of Jonesville, LA; daughter, Stella Peace and her husband Ardis of Shreveport, LA; son, Nap Book, Jr. and his wife Mary Kathryn of Tallulah, LA; three grandchildren, Landon Gramling and his wife Paige of Bossier City, Katie Book of Lafayette, and Annabeth Collins and her husband Kevin of Tallulah, LA. He is also survived by four great-granddaughters, Evelyn Book, Sloane Collins, Lilly Gramling and Sutton Collins.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Trisler Jr., Kevin Collins, Ty Book, Randy Book, Landon Gramling and Ervin White.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Young’s Funeral Home.
Special thanks to the staff and administration of The Columns in Jonesville. Our beloved Mr. Nap made many friends at The Columns in the past ten months. We offer heartfelt thanks to you all, and praise God for your care, your attention, and your many kindnesses to him and to us, his family. We love you all.
