Funeral services for Robert Wayne Spence, 62 of Grayson, LA were held at Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church at 11AM on Friday, July 18, 2025 with Pastor Tyler Stevison and Bro. Jamey Crum officiating. Internment followed at Heard Cemetery, Manifest, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home - Jonesville. The family received friends at Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church from 10AM until the time of the service at 11AM.
Wayne was born on Friday, April 12, 1963 in Inverness, FL and passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 in Alexandria, LA. He was a devoted educator and loving family man. Wayne held master’s degrees in mathematics, science, and library and information science.
He dedicated much of his life to teaching at Block and Jena High Schools and later served as Director of Catahoula Libraries, where his passion for learning flourished. A faithful member of Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church, Wayne found joy in reading, writing, and deep study of the Bible.
He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, whose lives he touched deeply with his wisdom and kindness. Wayne’s legacy lives on through the many minds he inspired and the family he dearly loved.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Derbert Spence.
He was survived by his wife of 38 years, Ramona Kaye Spence of Grayson, LA; mother, Ernestine Anders of Jena, LA; two sons, Aaron Spence (Staci) of Grayson, LA, and Caleb Spence (Maegan) of Walker, LA, daughter, Sarah Cockerham (Chance) of Trout, LA; grandchildren, Annalis and Aaden Spence, Bella, Blakely and Bentley Spence, and Cassie Cockerham; brothers, Frankie, Randy, and Roy Spence, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Those honoring him as pallbearers were Caleb Spence, Samuel Spinks, James Hudnall, Joseph McClure, Randall McClure and John Hudnall.
