Funeral services for Sarah Jane Wright Cockerham, 90 of Pineville, LA were held at Oak Grove Free Methodist Church on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Emmitte Belgard officiating. Interment followed at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, LA under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Sarah Jane Cockerham was born on Saturday, April 08, 1933 in Harrisonburg, LA and passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Pineville, LA. She was a resident of Jonesville and was a member of Oak Grove Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School class for many years.
She was preceded in death by father- George G. Wright; mother- Mattie Faulk Wright; husband- Milton Cockerham; daughter- Virginia Lynn Griffin; daughter-Carolyn Faye Brooks; two brothers- Jimmy Wright and George Wright; three sisters-Margaret Brooks, Carole Aplin and Doris Blaney; three Son-in-laws- Carl Smith, Mickey Fair and Lionel Brooks; granddaughter - Ramsey Alexandra O’Gwynn; great-granddaughter Sophia Skye Edwards.
She is survived by daughter- Judith Ann Smith of West Monroe, LA; daughter- Patricia Lee O’Gwynn, and her husband Larry of Pineville, LA; son- David Milton Cockerham of Natchez, MS; brother Paul Wright and his wife Clara of Jonesville, LA; brother- Don Wright and his wife Barbara of Franklinton, LA; brother-Russell Wright and his wife Michelle of Destin, FL; sister- Mildred Treanor of Bakersfield, CA; sister- Patsy Nell White of Dallas, TX; sister- Alice White of Denham Springs, LA; ten grandchildren- Dewana Smith, Regina Moffit, Carlane Smith, Jeremy Fair, Aaron Brooks, Jarred Brooks, Jason Ivey, Matthew Cockerham, Shaun Edwards and Shane Edwards.
She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, two greatgreat grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caring staff of the Oaks Nursing Home and the Christus Hospice for their compassionate care.
Pallbearers were-Shaun Edwards, Shane Edwards, Aaron Brooks, Cameron Brooks, Jason Ivey, Weston Moffit, Logan Moffit and David Vincent. Honorary Pallbearers were the members of Oak Grove Free Methodist Church.
