Reading and Riding in NELA

A Read and Ride pilot program was just completed by the LSU AgCenter in Caldwell, Franklin, Ouachita, Richland, and Union Parishes. This program, funded by the Living Well Foundation, has placed fitness bikes with attached desks in selected schools and public libraries.

A final gift from the Class of 1957

The Block High School Class of 1957, a small and tight-knit group of 42 students, built a legacy not only of education but of enduring camaraderie. Over the years, they gathered for class reunions that were more than just social events— they were celebrations of lifelong friendships.

Three roads reopened on Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has reopened Blount Road, Lac A Sostien RoadandRoutenCamp Road on the Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Dobbs Bay Road and all roads on the Mississippi River batture east of Louisiana Highway 15 remain closed due to flooding.

The Concordia Parish Library will host Gabe Giffin, a Louisiana Wildlife Expert. The date will be on Thursday, July 10th. He will arrive at the Ferriday Library at 10:15 AM and at the Vidalia Library at 2:00 PM with live alligators.
