The Town of Jonesville has officially appointed Lieutenant/K9 Handler Elton 'E.J.' Mayes, Jr. as the new Assistant Chief of Police, following a decision made at the latest town meeting.Mayes brings extensive experience to his new role.

Central School is bigger in four ways this year

August 1949, Central’s 2nd YearCentral will be a bigger school in at least four ways when it opens for its second year next Monday. It will have more pupils, more teachers, more grades and more rooms.

Central High will have 1st graduation

Central High School will hold its first commencement exercises next Thursday night, April 23rd, when five students will receive diplomas.One of the five will be Mrs. Alvin L.

New Principal

Alvin L. Sandifer, who has one of the longest service records of Catahoula teachers, will head the new Larto Consolidated School.A new $12,500 building awaits the former Enterprise school instructor and he is building a new home new the school.

New Larto school being made ready for opening date

Classwork will begin Monday at the new Larto Consolidated School. The new structure, being built at a cost of $14,250, comprises four classrooms and a porch. Heating is to be provided by a butane gas system and water furnished by a deep well.
