As I had said last week that my birthday was coming up on January 25th. I would like to tell you another story of how my birth and the following days would go. Mama was working at Jonesville Elementary School when her water broke.

Young authors of Catahoula Parish announced

Catahoula Parish students look forward to writing fiction, non-fiction and poetry to enter the young author contest but the announcement of the winners is anticipated much more.This year’s winners will be honored at a Catahoula Parish School Board meeting later in the year.

Benefit and parades in Catahoula Parish

A benefit for Officer Walter Barber is being hosted by the Town of Jonesville on February 9th. The bbq benefit will be at Town Hall starting at 11:00 a.m. Plates can be purchased for $15.00 and all donations are appreciated.

Reports of shots fired in Jonesville on January 12, 2024 resulted in the arrest of Dakauion Bowman. Bowman was charged with aggravated criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a felon and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Repeat offender arrested on child sexual abuse charges

Vidalia - The Concordia Parish Sheriff Office began investigating allegations of sexual abuse, involving a child victim under the age of 13 on January 26th.Ronnie G. Collier, 38 years old was arrested on charges of first degree rape, oral sexual battery, and out of parish warrants.

JPD swears in new Chief of Police

Jonesville officially has a new Chief of Police. MacArthur Tolliver, III was sworn in as Chief by Judge Kathy Johnson on Monday. Tolliver has worked in law enforcement for over ten years.

The washing of Catahoula Church Road, exposed water lines, and flooding of private property has been a problem for over a year. What was meant to be improvements to the road by Meyer, Meyer, Lacroix and Hixon, Inc. Engineering has become progressively worse causing concern for homeowner John Tiser.
